If you need to take a breath away from the water, visit one of the many sights right on the island. Atlantic Beach is home to Fort Macon; a historic gem of the Crystal Coast, The Circle, Oceania Pier, summer music festivals, concerts, and movies by the beach! Take a day trip to historic Beaufort and Cape Lookout Lighthouse, or the wild horses and ponies that run the grassy knolls on Shackleford Banks. Across the bridge in Morehead City or down the road in Emerald Isle is a variety of new restaurants to try and nightlife to enjoy. Take a walk on Pine Knoll Shores’ wild side with a visit to the pristine, undeveloped Theodore Roosevelt Natural Area, an expansive 265 acre nature preserve, conveniently located next to the town’s most visited attraction, the North Carolina Aquarium.

From the mountains to the sea … feel the spray of a mountain waterfall. Watch river otters play. Touch a stingray. Look a shark in the eye. Explore shipwrecks — without getting wet.
